Dan's message to the voters

October marks the 5th year I have been serving as the Douglas County Clerk, here in Oregon. Serving the people of Douglas County and becoming an Elected Oregon Constitutional Officer has been one of the greatest honors of my life, and I am excited to continue this work for another term.

I was raised here in Douglas County from the age of one to eighteen and now proudly raise my family here, since 2014. My journey took me across the globe for 28 years of military and federal service, but Douglas County has always been home. I've been happily married since 1998 and am the proud father of four children. Beyond my own family, we've opened our home to foster eight local children.

As County Clerk for the last five years, I've overseen 13 secure elections and modernized our department. In my tenure, I've made it a priority to uphold our constitutional and individual freedoms, ensuring election integrity, impartiality, and uniformity.

My dedication to public service extends beyond my elected role. I actively serve on local boards and with the Oregon Association of County Clerks, where I currently contribute to subcommittees aimed at advancing best practices in good governance.

With a background as a battle-proven military leader for over 23 years, I understand the importance of dedication, integrity, and service to others. These values guide me in every decision I make for our citizens.

I am proud to lead our dedicated elections team who are safeguarding democracy. I look forward to piloting our four division operations into further modernization. We have a new statewide voter registration database platform coming online next year and I am looking forward to implementing it and taking advantage of the opportunities to train our staff and make it as seamless for the public as we can make it.

I’m proud of the growth and achievements of our County Clerk department, but there is much to be done. I have worked hard to gain the well qualified experience, the critical skills, and the earned trust of our citizens and my fellow public officials. I am asking Douglas County voters for a new term to continue the work that I have started, so that we can complete all of these important initiatives. The County Clerk’s Office is responsible for our families’ most important records… birth, death, marriage, voting and home ownership. These records tell the story of our County, and these stories are why I get up every day to work on behalf of those I serve.
